        Fast Facts 2007              

    • The Abbotsford Community Foundation assembles and manages a collection of funds to serve the interests of the Community of Abbotsford in the areas of:

      -- education;

      -- sports;

      -- culture;

      -- the environment;

      -- parks and recreation;

      -- health and welfare;

      -- youth and seniors.

    • Donations are pooled and invested and the investment income is distributed as grants to local charitable organizations. The capital is never touched and continues to grow with each new gift, generating income to meet a wide range of community needs for years to come.

       

    • The Abbotsford Community Foundation was established in 1979 with a generous donation from a prominent pioneer family.

     

    • Canada's 153 independent community foundations have combined assets of more than $2  billion and have granted over $95 million to support local charitable causes

     

    • The Abbotsford Community Foundation offers maximum flexibility, and is well-managed.

     

    • The Abbotsford Community Foundation's scholarship and bursary endowment fund exceeds $1.7million, making the Abbotsford Community Foundation's scholarship and bursary program among the largest of its kind in Canada. This year, the Abbotsford Community Foundation granted $260,000 in scholarships and bursaries to Abbotsford students pursuing post-secondary education.

     

    • Donations to the Abbotsford Community Foundation may be made in the form of cash, pledges over a number of years, stocks, bonds, property, bequests, life insurance, memorial gifts, the transfer of an existing trust fund, or the establishment of an endowment fund by a charitable organization.

     

    • Abbotsford Community Foundation is a registered charitable foundation. All donations are tax-deductible.
